Privacy Policy
What we collect through this website and our monitoring services, how we use it, and how to reach us about it.
Who we are
Aventyr Security Corporation ("Aventyr", "we", "us") provides AI-assisted site surveillance, fire watch and ULC-certified monitoring across North America. We are based at 12160 103A Ave, Surrey, BC V3V 0G7. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website and our services, why we collect it, and what you can do about it.
What we collect
- Things you send us. When you fill in a form, call us or email us, we collect what you give us: usually your name, company, phone number, email address, site address and the details of your project or fire system impairment.
- Calls. Calls to our phone lines may be recorded and transcribed so we can log requests accurately and train our team.
- Website usage. If you accept optional cookies, we collect information about how you use the site, such as pages viewed, rough location based on IP address, device and browser type, and the company network you are visiting from.
- Footage and alarm data from monitored sites. Our cameras and sensors capture video, thermal images, audio during live talk-downs, licence plates and, where a client has enabled it, facial matching against a client watchlist. We collect this on behalf of the client who owns or controls the site.
How we use it
- To answer your enquiry, quote a job and deliver the service you asked for.
- To monitor client sites, verify alarms, dispatch guards or emergency services and produce incident evidence.
- To keep records our clients, insurers and fire authorities ask for, such as event logs during a fire system impairment.
- To understand how the website is used so we can improve it, only if you accept optional cookies.
- To meet legal, regulatory and certification requirements.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use monitoring footage for marketing.
Video, facial recognition and licence plates
On a monitored site, the client decides what is covered and which analytics are switched on, and Aventyr processes the footage for them. Sites should post signage that video surveillance is in use. Facial matching is only used where a client has a documented reason for it, and only to compare against a watchlist the client controls. Authorized personnel can be excluded from matching.
Footage is kept for the retention period set in the client contract, from 30 days up to three years, unless it is needed for an incident, an insurance claim or a legal matter. Access is limited to trained monitoring staff and the people the client authorizes.
If you think you were recorded on a site we monitor and want to ask about it, contact us using the details below. We will work with the site owner to answer your request.
Cookies and analytics
Essential cookies keep the site working, for example remembering your cookie choice and protecting forms from spam. These are always on.
Optional cookies are only set if you click Accept all on the cookie banner. They load:
- Google Analytics, to measure visits and which pages are useful.
- Apollo.io, to identify the companies whose networks visit the site so our sales team can follow up with relevant businesses.
You can change your mind at any time by clearing cookies for this site in your browser. The banner will appear again and you can choose Essentials only.
Who we share it with
- Service providers that run parts of our business for us, including website and CRM hosting, phone systems, email, analytics and the ULC-certified monitoring services that receive alarm signals. They may only use the information to provide their service to us.
- The client who owns or controls a monitored site.
- Police, fire departments and other emergency services when we respond to an incident.
- Anyone we are legally required to share it with, such as under a court order.
- A buyer or successor if our business is sold or merged, under the same protections.
Where it is stored
Alarm signals from monitored sites are received and handled inside Canada. Some of our service providers, such as website hosting and analytics, may store or process information in the United States or other countries. When that happens, the information may be accessible to authorities in those countries under their laws.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiry and customer records for as long as we have a business relationship with you and for as long as tax, legal and certification rules require after that. Footage follows the client retention period described above. Analytics data is kept according to the retention settings of the analytics provider.
How we protect it
We use encrypted connections, access controls, activity logging and staff training. Monitoring is carried out under ULC-certified procedures that include regular third-party audits. No system is perfectly secure, and if a breach creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will tell you and the appropriate privacy regulator.
Your choices and rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or withdraw your consent to how we use it, subject to legal and contractual limits. We will reply within 30 days. You can also opt out of marketing emails at any time using the link in the email.
If you are not happy with how we handled your request, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, or to the privacy commissioner in your province, such as the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia or Alberta, or the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.
