Fire Watch in Surrey and Metro Vancouver
When a fire alarm or sprinkler system in a Metro Vancouver building is impaired, bypassed or taken offline, a fire watch has to cover the gap. The default is a guard walking the floors once an hour at 35 to 55 dollars an hour. Aventyr covers the same impairment with thermal and smoke detection that never stops, signalled to a ULC-certified centre in under 60 seconds.
What the Code Requires
In British Columbia, the BC Fire Code and the authority having jurisdiction govern what happens when a fire protection system is impaired or taken out of service. In practice that means a fire watch for the duration of the shutdown, with someone competent to recognise a fire emergency, transmit a warning and operate portable fire equipment.
The AG-FW100 is built to meet or exceed the intent of those provisions: continuous detection instead of an hourly patrol, and a verified alarm reaching a UL-Listed central station in under 60 seconds. Confirm the specific requirement with your AHJ, and we will size the deployment to what they will accept.
How a Deployment Runs
The Cost You Are Comparing Against
Manned fire watch runs 35 to 55 dollars an hour. For round-the-clock cover that is roughly 840 to 1,320 dollars a day, and a multi-week impairment can pass 25,000 dollars. You are paying that for a person walking a route once an hour, carrying a phone, writing in a notebook.
The AG-FW100 covers the same impairment continuously, for a fraction of it, and produces an auditable detection record rather than a handwritten one.
Coverage in Surrey and Metro Vancouver
Aventyr is headquartered at 12160 103A Ave in Surrey, so Metro Vancouver is the shortest mobilisation we run. Surrey, Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, Coquitlam, New Westminster, Delta and Langley are all same-day territory for a planned shutdown, and we hold units for short-notice impairments.
Signals from a BC deployment are received through Aventyr's ULC-certified monitoring, staffed 24/7/365. Geographically separate receiving facilities mean no single point of failure, and your fire signals never leave Canadian infrastructure.
