AutoGuard FireWatch
A self-contained, pole or wall mounted fire watch system built to replace manned fire watch patrols when a building fire alarm system is impaired, bypassed or offline. The AG-FW100 pairs a wide-angle thermal camera carrying on-board fire and smoke analytics with a UL-Listed power supply, 24-hour dual-redundant battery backup and dual-SIM cellular communication to an independently UL-Listed central station. The result is continuous, verified fire detection that meets or exceeds the intent of Alberta Fire Code fire watch provisions.

Why It Replaces a Fire Watch Guard
The Alberta Fire Code Requirement
Under the Alberta Fire Code, a fire watch is required when a fire protection system is impaired or taken offline for more than two hours. A traditional fire watch means dedicated personnel patrolling the affected area at intervals no greater than 60 minutes, able to recognise a fire emergency, transmit a warning and operate portable fire control equipment. The AG-FW100 provides continuous thermal and smoke detection instead, with alarm signals reaching a UL-Listed central station in under 60 seconds.
AutoGuard FireWatch Against Manned Fire Watch
| Capability | AutoGuard FireWatch | Manned fire watch |
|---|---|---|
| Detection method | Continuous thermal plus smoke AI | Visual patrol every 60 minutes |
| Coverage gaps | None. 24/7 continuous monitoring | Up to 59 minutes between patrols |
| Alarm transmission | Under 60 seconds to ULC-listed centre | Guard calls 911 manually |
| Verification | Live thermal feed reviewed by operator | Guard verbal report |
| Human fatigue | Eliminated. AI analytics never tire | 12+ hour shifts, fatigue risk |
| Audit trail | Timestamped digital log of every event | Handwritten logbook |
| Communication path | Dual-SIM encrypted cellular, two carriers | Personal cell phone |
| Power redundancy | Dual batteries, 24-hour standby | Flashlight |
| Certification | ULC-listed signal path per CAN/ULC-S561 | No certification standard |
| Scalability | 1 to 100 units per site, one dashboard | One guard per area, cost scales linearly |
A single manned fire watch guard typically costs 35 to 55 dollars an hour, roughly 840 to 1,320 dollars a day for 24-hour coverage. On a multi-week impairment that can pass 25,000 dollars. The AG-FW100 delivers continuous, ULC-certified fire detection for a fraction of that, with no overtime, no shift changes and no gaps, backed by an auditable detection record.
ULC-Certified Canadian Monitoring
Aventyr monitors every AutoGuard FireWatch. Alarms are received, verified and acted on through ULC-certified signal receiving under CAN/ULC-S561, by operators on shift 24/7/365. Every signal stays inside Canadian infrastructure.
Signals are received at geographically separate, independently ULC-certified facilities. If one is hit by a power loss, a natural disaster or a connectivity fault, signals route automatically to the others.
